29/2/12
Happy 10 times as auspicious 80th birthday BBC World Service!!! Actually since it's February 29th it should be your 20th birthday but 80 is more lucky. :D Yay!

You've been my companion for more than 3 years and I'd like to wish you a huge load of cream puffs, coffee and cake!

We had trigonometry today. Soh Cah Toa. That's how I remember it, although my teacher prefers Toa Cah Soh. It's rather easy, although I do end up calculating the numbers way before I should. I used to do that with pi too.

After maths I went to join a Scrabble competition. More like, the National Inter-school Scrabble competition. I'm in a team with year 1s. I'm apparently the only year 2. There's quite a lot of interesting characters. There's a year 1 who slaps himself every time he swears (although that will end up encouraging him) and there was one who kept on playing some kind of squeaky voice through the speakers until the fire extinguisher found his head. (Just kidding. Somebody threatened him with it)

For physics we melted stearic acid. It's just a white powder. We already did the experiment when we were year 1s. Next thing you know the teacher's going to ask us to calculate the heat capacity of stearic acid.

I'm out of foolscap paper. I'm going to have to buy more tomorrow. Not to mention get a certain form signed. And do a lot of homework.

Just heard a bit about the Russian elections due soon. Apparently quite a few people are being discontented with Putin. Although if you ask me Putin will still be president for quite a while, unless the opposition finds a candidate that appears a strong challenger to the people. After all, most people see Putin as the person who is keeping Russia going right now. If he were to lose the presidential election (which he won't), people fear the new president won't be so effective, hence they will still stick with Putin, but not for long.

28/2/12
Blah, blah, blah, and a bit more blahbity blah thrown in for good measure. Just kidding.

Anyway we had P.E. again (as usual). The P.E. teacher made us throw Frisbees just like last week and run a lot. Matthew ran very fast and finished first. In fact, the only thing he does faster is copying someone's homework. Everyone else just tried to keep ahead of the people they wanted to keep ahead of. Like, say, June was trying to keep ahead of Zheng Xian, who was trying to keep ahead of Benjamin, who was trying to keep ahead of Wui Seng, who was trying to keep ahead of me. I eventually caught up. So he was like "Oh no! Ifuqube caught up with me!" and I was like "The f*** you sound almost like June!" and June was like "What the f*** are you guys saying?" and it went on for a while.

And for English we had to do an information brochure. me and my partner decided to do it on the 2012 London Olympics. So we took the logo and some of the sports and put them on a powerpoint slide. It's not finished yet though.

For geography the teacher showed us quite a lot of different rock samples. Including obsidian. It's a bit translucent gray around the edges, and is quite sharp. Scoria is really light. And fragile. The Scoria sample went through more weathering than it's entire life while we were handling it. In fact, a small chunk broke off. (And it smelled oddly of chocolate. Guess it came from a chocolate volcano) :P

I have Scrabble. It's really nice. I played a fun game. Only afterwards did we find out that we had a H missing and 3 extra As.

(Oh, and I left my phone in the washing machine. It'll probably pull through. It's got a Nokia sticker on the back, even though it's a Motorola Rokr)

27/2/12
Monday again. It's been about a week since I started posting, and I'm almost at my 100th page view, so thank you all for reading. Although I would also like it if you gave some feedback.

On Mondays we have assembly. Today it was a house meeting. Basically, (I believe some of your schools would also have this system) a house system is like a group of some students in the school, regardless of what level they are in. Currently there are only 4 houses in my school (Faraday, Fibonacci, Fleming, Nobel) and here are some of the things I have noticed:

1. Most Korean students are in Faraday.
2. Most Faraday members are lanky, run very fast, and are tall.
3. Most Fibonacci members are...(how should I put this) very robust.
4. Fleming and Nobel are the houses with the cute pupils. What? It's true! Don't believe me just look at the darn pictures!
5.Faraday always wins in the end because we run faster than all the other houses.

Not much happens on Mondays. (Someday I'm probably going to run out of things to write on. When that day comes, you'll know.)

I just checked my comments. Apparently somebody went and posted some stuff that I can't read, for some stupid reason. Apparently she has a blog too. But PiggyChubby? I bet she would be in Fibonacci if she was in my school. I mean, Piggy-Chubby. And Fibonacci has the chubby people.

26/2/12
Sorry for being a day late. I was too tired.

7 more months before my birthday. So I'm still 13 and a little bit less than 1/2. Yesterday we had Astronomy. Which involves staying up until 9 in the evening and looking through telescopes. The skies were clear today, so we could see Orion (and a bit of his nebula) and we could also see Jupiter and 4 of it's moons. We usually set up the telescopes on the netball court. It happens to be about 5 storeys up, so we get a better view. And despite the light pollution you can actually see quite a lot of stars (Siriusly).

The members of the Astronomy club are rather diverse. You have the somewhat weird ones who joined, well, I don't know for what reason, the rather normal ones who joined because they thought it would be a nice CCA and nice people. There's a Korean girl who apparently has a telescope for a boyfriend. I can see the benefits. For one, he wouldn't complain when you manhandle him. Not even an emission of any sort. Although it must be lonely being put away in a dry cupboard only to be used once a week.

Anyway, sorry for being late. Saturday was tiring and I had to finish quite a lot of homework. Right now I'm doing my Chinese homework which involves reading newspaper articles online, so I'm typing this while I look for something interesting. My Chinese homework is on litterbugs and the relationship between parents and teenagers these days.

23/2/12
We had E-learning today. Explaining more than yesterday's post, E-learning is where students say at home to learn online, in the case of a sudden outbreak of disease that causes the whole school to close. Coincidentally, an article in the newspaper stated that cases of Hand, Foot and Mouth disease had reached epidemic levels. So yeah, I guess they have a valid reason to have E-learning. Although in my opinion I'd prefer going to school. School takes up so much of your time that during the holidays you pretty much laze about (unless you're overseas) and then wonder how the hell its over so fast when you thought time was going slowly. So right now I'm finishing up that English project that's due tomorrow. Finishing up, mind you. Not doing. Although I do know some friends who are probably hunched over their computers doing it right now. Our level mostly does things at the last minute. And if all else fails, we can always copy (as mentioned in several posts earlier).

The E-learning worksheets were relatively easy. Although I have absolutely no idea how to do the music worksheet. I'd better buy the Theory Handbook tomorrow. Otherwise I'm screwed. Wonder what practical we'll be having for Chem and Bio tomorrow?

(By the way, I might not be able to post tomorrow. My CCA (co-curricular activity) runs late into the evening. Its Astronomy. I'll explain a bit more in my next post.)

At least 50 people are dead in Iraq. That's really sad. I mean, they were just ordinary citizens. They died just because they happened to be Shia or in the police force. They didn't cause any trouble or anger anybody. But the people behind the attacks (nobody has claimed responsibility) don't seem to care. They just talk about taking their revenge.

Some pictures of my interests:
this is a picture of my Renault F1 car. It;s radio controlled. My aunt gave it to me as a present.
this is my Savannah Leo Black Special. I got it a new motor. Not that I can find a place to race it, but it looks nice on my bedside table.
and this is my Angry Birds soft toy. I like Angry Birds.

Class profile:
Here are all 22 of my classmates, and what I think of them. You'll notice that Onesupercooled NintendoWui is not one of them. Who would want to have a name like that on anything other than Facebook? (Yes, I am on Facebook) So without further ado, let's begin.

Dee Pei Hui: She's the oldest in the class. In fact, she's taller than her older sister. How that happened I don't know. She's probably thinking of what she's going to say on Friday. Like, "Whydafuq did you write that?!" She has quite a lot of friends. She talks quite a lot.

Favian Chong: Extremely playful. Likes to poke you. (That's as much as I can describe it. To do any more would seriously damage his reputation) Likes to talk. And kick June. One of the oldest in the class.

Keene Lee: Talkative. I see no reason why people would call him cute. Sounds like Ke$ha. (Mother of God, indeed) Is one of the youngest in the class. Is mostly diligent. Until he gets to the subjects that he doesn't like. Then, he will contribute to the class sound profile.

Matthew Chong: Whew. That's a long name. Is passionate about football. Is extremely loud in class, and will make random comments. The teachers are often exasperated with him. Is extremely messy (he's got a lot of stuff under his drawer), and his wallet is a major source of attraction. It always goes missing. He is rather awesome (he told me to write this down. So to make him happy, I will.)

Mike Zhang: I, for one, see no obvious sign that he is rich. Ok, he might be the class treasurer but that doesn't say anything about his financial resolve. Although he seems to have quite a lot of bills in his wallet. And yet it says "Damn, I'm broke".

Khoo Wui Seng: Something of an oddball in the class. Has a variable pitched voice. Often treated as a soft toy by Favian. Tucks in his shirt. I see no reason why he should squeak. Instead of a birthday cake, he gets an F1 engine. One of the youngest in the class. Is not on Facebook. Which in my opinion, is rather odd. Has a definitely British sense of humour.

Wira Azmoon Ahmad: He's got a big posterior. He's Malay. Don't jump to conclusions. This year will be a big year for him.

Lee Jeong Yeon: Prefers to go by the name June. Is Korean (well, duh). Is well known among the juniors. She seems to like Pikachu. Runs damn fast.

Benjamin: Talkative. And injury prone. A goalpost fell on his foot once. Has a lot of good friends. Is entirely random, and likes Star Wars.

Jovan: Has rather strong views on decisive subjects. Does not have a Facebook account. Likes keeping fish.

Darryl Chow: Rather strong views. Will push them through no matter what. Most people like to make fun of him I do not condone their acts. Is rather tall.

Celine Cheow: Quiet and unassuming. But witty. That happens to be inferred from the 5 conversations we had last year.

Troy Duncan Tanudjaja: Indonesian. I believe a teacher mispronounced the "Duncan" part of his name. He said it like "Drunken". Hence, most people think he drinks. Is passionate about football, and has no qualms about yelling expletives in class. Because he told me to write this down too, he is an awesome guy to have around.

Kaoru Shigeno: Japanese. Most people thinks he eats people. Is rather round. Once played the part of Zeus in a random play we had, hence most people ask him to make it rain for physical education. Is bloody awesome at arm wrestling. He beat June. With his pinky.

Lim Zheng Xian: Is a fast runner. Also annoying. Has a bit more hair above his left eyebrow. Likes to provoke people.

Ng Zhen Jie: Is knowledgeable about many things. Such as how to build a house in Minecraft. And stars. And stuff like that. Is tall and apparently has six packs. At least, that's what my friends say.

Lee Jun Kun: Small. Has something of a troll face. Knows a bit about Minecraft.

Wu Yueze: From China. Is also good at arm wrestling. Beats almost everybody in the class.

Javier Thng: Often confused with Wui Seng. Both of them have poker faces. Both of them have big watches. Both of them are about the same height. Both of them, in short, look the same.

Wong Chong Wen: Is a good friend of Wui Seng's. Is not on Facebook. Knows a lot of topics. Always has something new to say, if only anybody listens.

John Chang: Likes Minecrafting. Has the nasty habit of poking Wui Seng. And then imitating whatever he says. Also likes to steal his umbrella.

If you have been counting, you may notice that I left one classmate out. He happens to be Nicholas. He's a f***ing sexist pig. That's why I won't include him in the list.

There's also and honorary member. Park Su Min. She was in our class last year, but left Singapore for the temperate climate of the Korea peninsular. She was always funny. We still miss you. Come back soon.

And with that, we're done. Thank you.
22/02/2012:
So here I am, doing my English homework and typing this. Not at the same time. Our English project basically requires us to make a brochure about what inventions revolutionized telecommunications. I'm done with the first bit. My friend's doing the second bit (at least, I think he is. He could be playing Mousehunt for all I know)

So during physical education today we threw Frisbee at each other and ran about 6 rounds of the track. That's 2.4 km. Work that out. My partner kept on throwing the Frisbee at an angle at which it would just fly back towards him. Everyone else was pretty much laughing as they tried to catch the flying objects. One clipped my shoulder. It didn't hurt much, though. Running around the track was made bearable because I was listening to the radio all the time. Apparently Adele was annoyed that her thank you speech at the Brit awards was cut short so she gave the finger. Anyone would really. I mean, her songs are so damn awesome and nice. As my friend put it, her voice "bridges the gap between young and old" because she sounds older than she is, but her song lyrics concern the issues young people face.

So anyway I had mathematics remedial (I suck at factorization-I'll admit it) and then ended up on the same train with some of my friends. Oh well, it's probably not coincidence. But hey, who cares when you have good friends?

We have E-learning the next day. Basically it's when everybody stays at home to do their homework online because there happens to be a worldwide pandemic ravaging the population. Which makes you wonder how there is even going to be people maintaining the servers. I mean, they should be sick with some random disease if it really was a pandemic. So I'll probably be doing my homework, except that 40% is going to be real homework and the other 60% will be typing on this blog and what not. Don't worry, tomorrow's timetable is 8 hours long. So if you want, visit this tomorrow. And the day after that. And the day after the day after tomorrow. Afterwards just visit this blog daily.

Urgh. Why do we always have so much homework?

Tuesday 21 February 2012

21/02/2012:
Today was as every bit as retarded as I had expected. I have always been of the opinion that lesson swaps can never lead to happy endings. Often the weather that had been planned on today (which happened to be rain) conflicted with the activity that had been planned for tomorrow (physical education), so all the Year 1s had to "strut their stuff" indoors.

Gosh, the teachers seem to be force feeding us projects. We just got a mathematics project today. In addition to the English, Da Vinci, Chinese projects that we haven't even started on. And are due in the next few days. Well, some are. Other students have already received angry letters from their teachers because their assignments were due on the 22nd of February...2011. Got our new pupil's handbook today. I celebrated the occasion by drawing quite a bit.

(My god, i think I'm typing too fast for the poor server here to cope. i mean, hell, "I"s turn into "i"s, and soem leters get omitted. Or mxied up for that matter.)

But never mind that! In the morning had to present about an article we read in a magazine, and I dropped my mouse twice. Now it's making funny rattly noises. And isn't working. And everyone kept on using my computer to present so now the battery is like, freaking low. And I'm only allowed to charge it twice a week.

The BBC was talking about a temporary ceasefire being brokered by the Red Cross and Syria. Personally I don't think it'll work. The civilians (or rebels) will be too rowdy and start doing things, and pretty soon the army's gonna have to be called in to quash the row. So yes, it will be a ceasefire, but only for 2 hours. Then the tank shells will start falling on Homs again, people will die, and this will continue happening everyday until the idiots in Russia and China realise just what they're doing. I just checked the BBC online and they say 12 people have been killed and 100 injured today. Honestly, Syria really ought to stop what it's doing. At the rate it's going, there will be hardly anybody left in Homs in a matter of months.
Class: Really, I'd consider my class something of a thixotrophic mixture. We can be damn slow to do things, but put us under a lot of heat, shake us around and we will pretty much  get the hell out of there. Like when a teacher's yelling. Or when there's a bug flying around inside the classroom. And a lot of them seem to spend their entire lives on Facebook, browsing through the endless stream of posts, comments, likes and shares, just so that they can post something cobbled together from what they have seen. 17 new stories have already appeared on my news feed while I was typing this. Some classmates are fine, some are annoying, and some are downright b****y .

Honestly, I think my class has it the worst. We're always last to hand in our homework, last to come in the inter-class competitions, last when it comes to our assignment scores, but first when it comes to the skill and speed at which we drive teachers crazy.

Of course, I'd consider my class an ionic compound too, due to the fact that although there happen to be 21,937,839 ways to arrange the 22 students in the classroom, there is not a single one that can keep noisy from noisy and annoying from annoying. And yes, we're really quite closely bonded. At least, some classmates are. I'm not. Something of a noble gas. But then, even noble gases may react with Flourine...
First blog post, and already I've got stuff to say. So if you people don't know who I am, that's for the better. Although if you happen to be on Facebook you can easily find me. My school is relatively competitive in terms of competitions (heck, we bring in tons of medals every year) but in every other aspect we pretty much fall flat on our faces. I don't have much friends. Yeah, Forever Alone or whatever stupid 9gag meme you guys make up all the time. Not that I don't like 9gag. Although I pretty much love my Primary school friends. We'd make an awesome bunch. Heck, Primary school days were a lot more hyperventilation inducing than now (crazy friends you can't just help but love), and it was never quiet. Not when I fixed that stereo system that was in a corner of the class. Parties were always awesomer.
